The Oaks

The Oaks can be located in the town of Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees.

The house has been specifically designed to care for and support a maximum of four children and young people aged between 8-17 years of age. The Oaks has a large driveway to the front of the building, additional parking to the rear and an extremely large back garden that is more than ample for a number of outdoor recreational activities. After an extensive renovation,  The Oaks now comprises of four double bedrooms (two with en-suite), two communal sitting rooms, a large dining kitchen, bathroom, WC and a separate utility room.

We provide an innovative range of services to meet the individual needs of children and young people whilst creating a warm family environment. Our young people are supported in attending mainstream school, alternative education, training or work placements and maintain close links to sporting, leisure and community clubs / activities.

Registered Manager - Andrew O’Shea
Andy previously worked in the capacity of a learning support practitioner in 2 behavioural specialist schools for 10 years prior to becoming a residential care worker. He has taken his learning experience from an educational setting and applied it to the residential service creating an inclusive environment that benefits the children and staff team. After six years and several promotions, Andy is now the Registered Manager at The Oaks.

Level 3 diploma in residential childcare. QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
Kim Golding “Nurturing Attachments”; Team Teach physical intervention.; Safeguarding; Trauma Informed Practice and PACE, LSI and IOSH, Safer Recruitment, Andy has a sports science degree, Andy has various qualifications and has team teach certificates. Andy has also had restorative approach training. He is also a Team Teach instructor for the company.

Assistant Manager - Debra Goldthorpe

Debra has worked in residential care for over 20 years working with children and young people in the private sector and with local authorities. Debra has a wealth of experience and a very nurturing approach towards residential care, this was evident as Debra achieved consecutive outstanding Ofsted judgements as an Assistant Manager prior to joining us at Ar Cúram.

NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People, Registered for QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care .Level 5 in Developing Professional Supervision Practice in Health and Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings, IOSH, Administering Medication Level 3. Kim Golding “Nurturing Attachments”, Team Teach physical intervention. PACE trained and LSI (Life Space Interventions) Training, Emergency First Aid, Fire safety, food safety, health and safety, safeguarding, Mental Health First Aider, Safer Recruitment and infection control.
