Quality & Purpose of Care
The Children for whom we provide care and accommodation
At Ar Cúram, we provide care and support for children and young people aged between 8-17 years old.
Our Ethos and the Outcomes we aim to achieve
We believe that “every child deserves a champion”.
We are firmly committed to ensure that each child who lives with us receives a high level of care and support from our team of champions. As individuals, we treat each child with unconditional positive regard and, as a team, we have high expectations and aspirations for those children to reach their full potential.
We aim to:
- Ensure Young People live in a home that provides safety and security by allowing them to be children.
- Establish a group living environment that builds connections; where young people and adults feel a sense of belonging.
- Empower young people to be actively involved in all aspects of their lives.
- Support personal development for young people and professional growth for the team.
To achieve this we ensure the safety of the child is at the forefront of everything that we do. We provide a relational based and trauma-informed approach where emphasis is placed upon building and maintaining relationships, and seeking to repair them when things go wrong. We ensure a sense of belonging and work in collaboration with our young people. We recognise and promote their strengths, listen to and act upon their views and we make sure we include significant others in their lives.
We provide a high quality of care designed to meet the assessed needs of the young people we care for, including behaviour and emotional regulation. We have highly skilled and experienced professional team around the child to ensure that this can be achieved using a PACE informed approach.
Ultimately, the support we provide will help young people to feel safe, have good physical/mental health and achieve in education (and/or Training & Employment). We will support and enable them to develop the necessary skills to thrive and succeed through their childhood, adolescence and finally into adulthood.
We recognise the importance of ensuring young people are looked after and supported by a team of professionals who possess the necessary qualities to help them to develop, attributes such as resilience, dedication, enthusiasm and a desire to engage meaningfully with hard to reach children and young people. Most importantly, everyone at Ar Cúram needs to demonstrate their unconditional support by making a significant and positive impact on the lives of the children in our care.
