Residential Child Care Workers (Day / Night Shift or Bank work available).

Locations available: Thornaby / Eaglescliffe / Redcar / New Marske

Salary: £23,408 - £27,021 

Bank Rate: £12.16 per hour plus holidays 

** These rates do not include additional payments such as agreed sleep ins, residential trips, contractual overtime. Enhanced rates will be paid for all additional hours above your contracted 37 hours per week.

We are recruiting Residential Child Care Workers who are passionate about effecting long term change in the lives of vulnerable children and young people by providing essential support that enables them to reach their full potential.

You will work as part of a team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care, ensuring positive and meaningful outcomes are achieved for the young people to include physical, social and emotional care, the mental wellbeing of the children and young people in a homely environment where they feel safe, secure and cared for. Some key responsibilities will be to actively and effectively safeguard and promote the rights of children and young people, teach them life skills and coping strategies, build their confidence, self-esteem and resilience.

Your duties will include; accompanying young people to and from education, facilitating family time, creating a warm, comforting and homely environment by undertaking daily household tasks whilst encouraging participation in local activities and hobbies. The role also involves the monitoring, recording and completion of all relevant paperwork involved with the young person’s care plan to a high standard.

To be successful in your role, you will need to demonstrate your passion for working with young people. You will be motivated, empathetic and understanding, able to establish and build on nurturing meaningful relationships which will enable you to fully understand the young persons views, wishes and feelings to effectively advocate for them

Ideally, you will have experience of working with children or vulnerable groups and the ability to bring your transferrable skills to the role. In addition, in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations, you should have your QCF 3 or 4 in Children and Workforce Development, working towards or the commitment to complete this in 2 years of commencement in post. We actively promote internal development and succession planning.

These positions require an enhanced DBS check and/or barred list check and are exempt Under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. If you are selected for interview you will be sent a declarations and disclosure form for completion.

All candidates applying to work through the national Vetting and Barring Scheme are required to provide details of any relevant unspent convictions. Under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all "spent" convictions must be disclosed for certain posts. It is a criminal offence to offer employment for certain posts involving working with children or vulnerable adults, defined as regulated activities, without employers checking the appropriate barred list/s (children or adults).  The barred lists contain details of people deemed unsuitable to work with children (or adults). The majority of the positions at Ar Curam involving working with children defined as regulated activities, therefore Ar Curam will undertake a check of the barred person list as part of the recruitment process for all regulated posts.

Confirmation of appointment further to conditional offer will only be made after receipt and verification of satisfactory checks.
